What is a lungo?

Lungo is Italian and means “long”. It is also called an extensive version of an espresso, and rightly so, as it usually contains three times as much water as a double or single espresso. Lungo should not be confused with an americano or long variety, as all the water for a lungo is filtered through the coffee capsules and not added afterwards as in an americano. This is done to preserve the crema of the coffee. As the coffee is brewed under pressure, a taste is achieved like no other, even when brewed in the same ratio between ground coffee and water. The lungo is milder than the espresso, but still full of flavor and kick, just the way we want it.

Why choose a lungo?

With a lungo coffee capsule for the Nespresso® machine, you will taste more of everything in the coffee and in the roasting. By using some coffee beans, you can get a more bitter taste when making a cup of lungo than if you make it as an espresso. But if you use the right beans, roasted to perfection, you can extract all the flavor nuances from the beans.

Another reason to choose a lungo is that it is the largest cup of coffee you can brew with a Nespresso® machine. And honestly, you can not manage to have a nice chat with a friend over an espresso or ristretto.

How to drink a lungo?

Coffee should preferably be slurped, just as professional tasters do. It may not sound very polite, but by aerating the coffee, you will enjoy the full range of flavors from your Nespresso® coffee capsule.

When you use quality coffee for Nespresso®, you will get a beautiful, tan crema as a layer of foam on top. If you taste it, you may find it bitter, but if you stir in it before the first important tear, a stronger aroma will be released.

Stay here and try a lungo

KaffeKapslen has more than 6 brands to choose from, and even more varieties. You can choose between strong or mild, traditional or adventurous and environmentally friendly, or you can choose a flavor mix to find your very own favorite lungo capsule for Nespresso®.
